Cruising Section

The Cruising programme brings together members to share their enjoyment of sailing, both on the river and for short hops along the coast to neighbouring harbours. Like the Water Rat, we enjoy ‘just messing about in boats’.

There is a variety of events, including day-sails to explore the river with visits ashore, day-sails in Start Bay with a picnic rendezvous at anchor usually near a beach, and longer trips to Salcombe or further afield and staying away overnight. Whether you sail a dinghy, a day-boat, or a small yacht, we hope you will find something to suit you.

The organisation is informal and you are free to join and leave the group as you wish. Importantly each skipper is responsible for his own passage-planning and the safety of his boat and crew. This applies to the river trips as well as the coastal ones.

The arrangements for each event are very dependent on the weather forecast and are sometimes changed at short notice, so please register your interest in good time.
